    Partner

    Kyle Brown is a partner at the law office of Brown & Hobkirk, PLLC. He primarily focuses on representing clients in serious personal injury claims and wrongful death cases. With more than 20 years of legal experience, Kyle strives to make his clients feel comfortable throughout every aspect of their case. Whether people have been injured in a car accident or are struggling to navigate the probate process after losing a loved one, Kyle walks them through what to expect so they can feel confident in moving forward. Kyle graduated from Arizona State University, summa cum laude, in 1993 with a degree in finance. He received his law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 1998. From 1996 to 1998, Kyle served as a Staff Writer and Associate Editor for the Arizona State Law Journal. He also served as an instructor in the law school course Introduction to Legal Method and Writing, for first-year law students in 1997. Kyle is licensed to practice law in the state of Arizona. He is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association and the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association. He is also the co-author of “The Use of OSHA Regulations in Negligence Cases,” published in Arizona Attorney Magazine in July 2000. From 2004 to 2010, Kyle served on Arizona State University’s Alumni Association Advocacy Steering Committee.

    Robert Hobkirk is a partner at the law office of Brown & Hobkirk, PLLC. Robert has devoted his entire legal career to estate planning issues. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2004 from Albany Law School of Union University, in Albany, NY. Robert is licensed to practice law in Arizona, New York and Connecticut. His practice areas include trusts and estates, estate planning, probate, estate litigation, will/trust contests, business law and real estate. Robert is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association and the Trusts and Estates section. He has also participated in Mediation Programs.     Ernst Janensch is Of Counsel with Brown & Hobkirk, PLLC. He works primarily on litigation, including probate and personal injury. Ernst received a dual undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He fell in love with Arizona after moving here from Chicago to attend the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. He received Legal Writing Honors and was a Pedrick Scholar. He was Editorial Assistant for Jurimetrics Journal, published by ASU and the American Bar Association. In 1993, he earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, and was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona. Goals when first meeting with a client: Listening is the first step I take when meeting a client. You can’t just assume what the client’s goal is, because it’s different for different people. In addition, it’s important to explain the litigation process, so the client has realistic expectations about the nature, time, and expense of litigation.

    Marketing Attorney

    Ashu Hayat is the Marketing Attorney for Brown & Hobkirk, PLLC. Her focus is on helping people who need legal advice connect with the attorneys who can best help them. She does this by providing valuable legal information through the firm’s website and social media channels, enabling people to find answers to their initial questions and connect with the firm for a free consultation. Ashu graduated magna cum laude with an undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 2000. She was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. She received her law degree in 2004 from Albany Law School of Union University in Albany, NY. She concentrated in Health Law and received the Diversity Scholarship for academic excellence. She has been licensed to practice in Arizona since 2004. For several years, Ashu worked as an attorney and Director of Appeals for an Aetna Company. She has worked with various Arizona law firms since 2012. Ashu is a member of both the Arizona Bar Association and the Maricopa County Bar Association. What I think makes Brown & Hobkirk, PLLC different: As a licensed attorney, I know how important it is to build a connection with clients. I believe that personal connection makes you a better advocate for your client. Our firm really focuses on building that connection, making sure we understand our clients’ needs and what they are going through. In her free time, Gina enjoys cooking, hiking, running, HIIT classes, international travel (especially France) and spending time with her dog Frankie.

    Shannon was born in Ohio but has lived in Arizona since she was a baby. The Arizona heat is what she knows and loves. After graduating from Arizona State University in 2010, she took a job as a file clerk at a small law firm and absolutely fell in love with the legal field. Shannon feels blessed to have found her home as a paralegal at Brown & Hobkirk, PLLC. When Shannon is not at the office, she enjoys spending her time at the gym, hiking, doing hot yoga, and attending Zumba classes. Staying active gives her the ability to indulge in the true loves of her life, pizza and chocolate chip cookies.

    Charlene Gates was born and raised in Indiana and relocated to Arizona in December of 2010. She has worked in the legal field in different capacities for over 25 years. Upon graduating, she decided to make her home in Scottsdale. Ann has 3 amazing children. On the weekends, she likes to be active outside by the pool, hiking, or exploring the great state of Arizona. Ann loves to go dancing and spend time with her friends and family.
