  • Michelle Cabret-Carlotti, MD, DDS

    Plastic Surgeon

Michelle Cabret-Carlotti, MD, DDS is an extremely educated and even more highly regarded Cosmetic Surgeon with a diverse and unique background. Born on an Air Force Base in Puerto Rico to parents that worked for the Department of Defense (DOD), she spent her childhood in a foreign country for 8 1/2 – 9 months out of every year including Japan, Philippines, and the United Kingdom. Her parents felt traveling provided an education in and of itself and she had the fortune of traveling the world- Europe, Asia, and Russia. The highlight of her young life was coming home to Texas and California to visit family. She has vivid memories of driving from Killeen to McAllen to visit family when hours of the drives were tumbleweed. She is beyond thrilled to bring her girls and husband home to Central Texas. As a young adult, Dr. Cabret-Carlotti graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wagner High School, a highly academic DOD school in the Philippines. She began her higher studies at the Young Scholars program hosted by the UC System at the University of California, Santa Barbara while she was still technically a high school student. With the highly regarded Regents Academic and athletic scholarships in hand, she started her undergraduate education with a short stint at Arizona State University before transferring and graduating Magna Cum Laude and High Provost Honors in Psychology at Revelle College at the University of California, San Diego. She then went on to earn a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) from the UCLA School of Dentistry, ranked top 3 academically in the country. Leaving UCLA with the Highest Honors, and inducted into Omikron Kappa Upsilon – the National Dental Honors Society, she became the first female ever to be accepted into the very prestigious double degree program at the University of Texas, Southwestern School of Medicine. Dr. Cabret-Carlotti was the first and, to date, is the only female to be accepted and excel in the joint program earning her Medical Doctorate (MD) from UT Southwestern, completing UT Southwestern’s Hospital System including Parkland Hospital’s General Surgery Internship, and acting as Chief for multiple hospitals in her 6th and final year of surgery residency. Her unparalleled surgery training including the scopes of major trauma, surgical oncology, breast, maxillofacial, reconstructive, craniofacial, orthognathic (jaw), complex oral reconstructions, and elective cosmetic surgery. UT Southwestern Medical School’s affiliated hospitals surgery specialty residency programs are considered by many to be the Harvard of surgery programs. She cherishes her many years in Dallas and is so grateful to the many outstanding UT Southwestern Medical School and Surgery Programs’ world renown faculty that helped shape her career.

  • Dr. Albert Carlotti

    Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Albert Carlotti is a second generation surgeon. Since the age of 14 he wanted to become a craniofacial surgeon to perform complex facial reconstructive surgery. He earned his BA from the University of Vermont, Doctorate of Dental Surgery in Baltimore, Maryland and then attended UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX earning his Medial Degree in 1998. While at Parkland Hospital, Dr. Carlotti completed his residency training in Maxillofacial Surgery and then completed a one year fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Carlotti currently specializes in all forms of facial & body Cosmetic Surgery, Orthognathic (Jaw Surgery) and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Michelle Carlotti and he met in medical school and they had their first daughter in Dallas. The couple then moved with their young daughter to Scottsdale, Arizona where they opened The Carlotti Center in 2002. In the last 16 years they have treated over 28,000 patients performing full scope cosmetic, reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery as a team. Together, they make each other better as they provide both a male and female perspective. This permits shorter, more efficient and safe operating times and allows four hands and eyes to optimize results. Dr. Carlotti has been on faculty at AT Still University for over 5 years where he teaches residents how to diagnose and treat complex facial deformities. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and is Past-President of the Board of Directors of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation. Dr. Carlotti has lectured numerous times on the International level on facial and body cosmetic surgery. Drs. Carlotti moved back to Texas in early 2016 in preparation for opening their brand new facility, Austin Cosmetic Surgery, in Lakeway, TX. This facility will be a State-Licensed Ambulatory Surgical center which will meet all the same requirements as any hospital in the nation. The goal is to perform their procedures in a facility that focuses on patient safety. Drs. Carlotti are privileged at Baylor Scott & White Hospital which sits just behind their new Austin facility as well as at Northstar Surgical Center and Scottsdale Liberty Hospital in Arizona. Their lives are busy as they serve both practices in both Arizona and Texas. As they are over-achievers, their main focus its on their two daughters who go to school at Lake Travis Middle School and Lake Travis High school in Lakeway, TX. Dr. Carlotti is a fitness addict and in addition to completing on the National Stage as a Men’s Physique competitor 7 times, he holds a National & World Record in powerlifting in the United States Powerlifting Association and the International Powerlifting League.

  • Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty is a very common and safe procedure. This procedure addresses a very common issue both men and women struggle with on a daily basis. Sometimes no matter how much you exercise and eat right we all have those trouble areas that will not go away. It causes us to be self-conscious and avoid activities where we feel insecure about our bodies. There is no technology out there that is going to “remove your fat” the science is not there! To achieve the overall effect of a smoother tighter stomach abdominoplasty is the only option. Abdominoplasty involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the abdominal wall. The remaining tissue and muscle of the wall is then tightened. By far, the most common patients are women who have given birth and have lost the body shape they once had. In many postpartum scenarios, it can be difficult for a woman to regain her pre-pregnancy shape. Excess fat develops, and the skin of the stomach loses its natural elasticity.

  • Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed today in the world. Women choose to undergo the procedure for a variety of reasons including most obviously to increase size, to correct asymmetry, to replenish breast tissue which was lost following weight loss or pregnancy and in conjunction with a breast lift. The actual breast augmentation surgery is quite simple surgically. On average, actual surgery time for us is less than 20-25 minutes with total time in the Operating Room for about an hour. The most common complaint of patients following the procedure is tightness in the chest due to the expansion of the muscle and placement of the implant. This usually significantly subsides in 24 hours, is well controlled with prescribed pain medications and is 95% improved in 4 days. Most patients will go back to work, with minimal lifting, in about a week. Final results as the muscle, then the breast tissue and finally the skin finally stretch to accommodate the new implant takes about 3 months. We advise patients to wait to buy that expensive bikini or bra until the breasts have considerably settled and softened giving the final result. We tell every patient the same thing: breast augmentation is the “happiest operation we do.” Most women after surgery say that they wish they had done it sooner as it gives them more confidence in and out of clothing. With a male and female perspective, the advantage of having two experienced surgeons, two sets of hands and two sets of critical eyes, the patient truly benefits in our practice.

  • Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a “nose job,” is one of the most common cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in the world. Your nose is one of your most noticeable features. It’s also a critical element of your general well-being. Blocked nasal passages can obstruct breathing and make day-to-day life difficult. What makes rhinoplasty unique is that it addresses both cosmetic and structural concerns. This makes it an ideal procedure for patients who would like to improve the appearance of their nose and for patients with obstructed nasal passageways or deviated septums. At Austin Cosmetic Surgery, we take into account both form and function to deliver breathtaking results for all our patients.

  • Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

A blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, is a procedure performed by cosmetic surgeons to restore that youthful appearance around your eyes. Depending on your needs, the procedure will involve either your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Blepharoplasty is a fantastic option to address wrinkles, deep lines, bags, dark circles and puffiness. Patients who’ve undergone an eyelift procedure are told their eyes look fuller, brighter and more expressive. Even though the procedures are performed on the eyelids and not the actual eyes, you’ll look and feel like you have brand new eyes. The eyelift procedure is an outpatient procedure. You’ll be given local anesthesia, or in some cases, an IV sedation. Incisions will be made in your upper eyelid crease or lower eyelid along the lash line depending on your treatment plan. If necessary, we will remove a small amount of skin in either the upper or lower eyelids. Finally, we use fractional laser treatments to renew your skin.

  • Liposuction & Liposculpture

The distinction between high volume liposuction and liposculpture is an important one. Liposuction is simply the taking away or removal of fatty tissue by the use of a liposuction cannula. Liposculpture on the other hand, targets specific areas with a higher level of precision and results. Liposculpture is a method that targets and carefully removes specific areas of fat deposits, which cannot be “dieted away.” These areas are known as “fat depots” which are under hormonal control and are the last to go as the patient approaches actually being underweight and the first to come back as they gain weight again. When you lose weight, fat cells shrink in size, not decrease in number. However, after liposculpture the number of fat cells is reduced permitting control of these hard to control areas. Drs. Carlotti use this liposuction procedure on patients who are near their desired weight level and who wish for the removal of specific fat deposits and not for weight loss. Patients who are excellent candidates for Liposculpture are those, who in most cases, have a regular exercise routine, are on a weight loss diet and who are mostly concerned with particular “trouble areas” that diet and exercise don’t seem to effect.

  • Breast Lift

For a variety of reasons, breast tissue may lose its tone and volume leading to saggy (ptotic) tissue. The causes can be genetic, weight gain, weight loss, post-pregnancy or simply age-related changes. The breast tissue that remains typically overhangs the inframammary crease (the fold underneath the breast), the nipple may point downwards, the areolar tissues may expand and youthful firmness of breast tissue may soften due to changes in the Cooper’s ligaments, or the scaffolding to breast tissue. Many patients complain of back and neck pain as they attempt to use tight-fitting bras to help elevate the breast tissue back onto the chest. Additionally, they find many restrictions in their ability to wear certain clothes such as low neckline dresses, bathing suits, tube tops and backless dresses as it can be impossible to find a concealing bra to support themselves to wear underneath. Following pregnancy and breastfeeding, there is also a significant amount of atrophy of the breast tissue above the nipple such that breast lift alone may not restore the patient to their desired youthful, full, perky positioning of their breasts. Therefore it is common to simultaneously place breast implants to restore the volume of the lost breast tissue in conjunction with a breast lift. When a woman contemplates the decision to undergo a breast lift, their primary concern is the potential for undesirable scarring. The goal of all forms of Cosmetic Surgery is to provide patients with a non-operated looking result and to conceal scars in such a fashion that it can be virtually noticeable. With breast lifting or Mastopexy, this can be reasonably accomplished in experienced hands and with a compliant patient who lacks the genetic predisposition for hypertrophic (thickened) scarring or keloiding (forming very large bulky scars).

  • Botox

BOTOX® injections soften the movement of the fine muscles around the eyes, forehead, lips, chin, and neck that cause creases in the skin called rhydids. By selectively weakening the proper muscles at key injection points, the provider can dramatically reduce wrinkles. In certain instances however, wrinkling may be too deep and either require surgical procedures or volume enhancing procedures such as the placement of dermal fillers combined with Botox. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections. “Frown lines” are caused by overactive facial muscles. BOTOX Cosmetic is intramuscular, blocking the chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract, thereby relaxing them. You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. The appearance of your “frown lines” may continue to improve for up to a week. Visible results can last up to 4 months. After that, you may be ready to return for a follow-up treatment. Your own results may vary, be sure to talk to our doctors about what you can expect. While the treatment can be used alone, it is often used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures such as soft tissue fillers (eg. Juvederm®, Radiesse®). Botox® is often combined with surgical procedures such as face-lifts, blepharoplasty or laser resurfacing. BOTOX has been used therapeutically for over 75 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It is approved in more than 75 countries. Only licensed and trained healthcare professionals have the experience necessary to administer BOTOX Cosmetic. Allergan, Inc. is the only source for healthcare professionals to purchase the product, and each label has the “Allergan” hologram. Drs Carlotti have injected thousands of patients with BOTOX Cosmetic.

  • Four-Dimensional Facelift

At Austin Cosmetic Surgery, we recognize the concerns you may have about facelifts and facial rejuvenation surgery. Everyone can recognize that Hollywood starlet who has clearly had too much work done. A poorly executed facelift can leave you looking like you’re literally made of plastic. Our proprietary Four-Dimensional Facelift procedure is more than a run-of-the-mill facelift. We perform multiple small procedures including facelift, neck lift, endoscopic brow lift, and fractional laser resurfacing in what is truly a reconstruction of youth. We’re not giving you a new face. We’re giving you your old face. Your facial features will be more prominent. Your skin will be tighter with fewer wrinkles around the forehead. Your eyes will be more open, with the glow of your younger self.

  • Endoscopic Brow Lift

The effects of aging are almost always noticeable on the forehead and brow areas. Creases in the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes, and vertical lines between the eyes contribute to a perpetual look of anger or concern. In the past, brow lifts were massive procedures involving an ear-to-ear incision along the hairline. The unfortunate side effects of this procedure were scarring, hair loss and constant numbness of the forehead. At Austin Cosmetic Surgery, we use the more modern and minimally invasive endoscopic brow lift procedure to avoid these risks while giving you the results you desire. You’ll say goodbye to those crow’s feet and enjoy a more youthful look in your forehead and around your eyes. And since all incisions are made behind the hairline, you won’t have to worry about unsightly scars.
