Carrie Miller Smaczny started studying Pilates in 1994 in her undergraduate Contemporary Dance Program at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX. She holds a BFA in Dance from TCU and a MFA in Dance from University CA, Irvine. She completed her STOTT training from Angela Sundberg in Scottsdale in 2001, then continued her teacher training in California through the John Garey Studio in Long Beach 2007. She is fully certified in STOTT equipment. She has taken over 60 hours of continuing education specializing in Pilates for Osteoporosis, Pregnancy, Function of the Hip and Knee, Athletic Programming, Breast Cancer Post Rehab, and Fascia Movement for Mat & Foam roller. Her recent research has led her to train under Madeline Black in San Francisco - learning deep connections of the fascia to bones and dynamic alignment. She has been teaching Pilates and Dance since 1998. She has worked in the Los Angeles market at Bay Clubs and Equinox. Recently relocating to Scottsdale in Fall of 2017. Carrie shares her love teaching the deep connections of the Pilates work and how it has healed her mind, body and spirit.
As a former dancer, Pilates and Yoga enthusiast, Jessica Dumanch has been practicing mind body movement for over sixteen years. She received her formal Pilates training through Balanced Body University in 2009 -and continued her education through BASI, obtaining another certification in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies, the Garuda Method in London U.K., TRX, and Pilates Santa Fe. Ms. Dumanch continues her Pilates education under the private instruction of the master trainers of a few (of the) Pilates lineages. She has logged many hours and many miles around the globe to ensure that her Pilates education is both authentic and contemporary. She is very particular about whom she works with, and prefers to train exclusively with the masters to ensure that her clients receive an exceptional Pilates experience. Ms. Dumanch is careful to incorporate the style of Pilates that works best for each individual, and her approach to movement is unique, because of her diverse background in mind body movement conditioning. Ms. Dumanch also understands the demand and complexities of the dualities that men and women face in today's fast-pace world. She (is) balancing two full time careers; a corporate career, with teaching Pilates, being an eternal student and maintaining a personal life! When designing programs for each individual and class, she wants to ensure that clients receive exceptional instruction with lasting results.
Meet your instructor, Jodi! Jodi trained in the classical East Coast Pilates method and has been teaching for 20 years. She opened a successful studio in upstate New York which she sold to move out west. While in New York, Jodi was the fitness spokesperson for the CBS and ABC morning news shows. She has been the fitness expert for Gannett news services as well as various newspapers and magazines. Jodi was also featured in PilatesStyle magazine who wrote that she is "a conduit to fitness success".
