• Abdominoplasty

• Brazilian Butt Lift

• Breast Augmentation

  Breast size, shape and contour are three elements that determine how attractive and comfortable a woman is with how she looks under her clothes. • Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

  Owing to the physical formation of the breast or the change in appearance over time that comes with age, many women will experience sagging breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts tend to elongate and lose their more youthful form. Considered an unsightly and less-than-satisfactory appearance, many women will try and remedy this using push-up bras and other clothing accessories. However, these only work to a certain extent. If the sagging is extensive, there may be little else to do but consider a surgical intervention to correct this. The procedure sought out for this purpose is known as a breast lift or mastopexy procedure. How the service is done: A mastopexy raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the breast. The mastopexy or breast lift operation can be performed in a variety of ways and usually takes one and a half to three and a half hours. The most common procedure involves an anchor-shaped incision following the natural contour of the breast. The incision outlines the area from which breast skin will be removed and defines the new location for the nipple. When the excess skin has been removed, the nipple and areola are moved to the higher position. The skin surrounding the areola is then brought down and together to reshape the breast. Stitches are usually located around the areola, in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipple area, and along the lower crease of the breast. Follow-up treatments or next steps: Following your surgery, your breasts will be bruised, swollen and sore for one to two weeks. You’ll need to wear a surgical bra for the first week after surgery, followed by a support bra for several weeks after that. Post-surgical swelling will resolve over time and incision lines will fade. The stitches will be removed after a week or two. • Chin Augmentation

  With the chin and jawline being one of the first areas to show signs of aging, chin augmentation is often carried out to restore a person’s youthful look. This procedure can enhance facial balance and can be achieved through either a reduction or addition to the chin. The reduction procedure is known as mentoplasty while the addition procedure is known as genioplasty. In either case, the chin is improved through a relatively quick and easy procedure. “Often time chin augmentation is performed at the same time as a rhinoplasty, or nose job, to restore balance to both the lower and mid face simultaneously.” What methods are used: There are two primary methods that can be employed to surgically enhance your chin: Chin implants: In this procedure, the surgeon will use an implant to add volume and structure to your chin. Sliding genioplasty: This involves the cutting of a horseshoe-shaped piece of bone from your jaw and then repositioning (sliding) this into position to give your chin prominence. You may be asked to wear a brace while you are sleeping for 4 to 6 weeks. You can resume light activity the day of surgery. • Earlobe Reconstruction

  Ear piercing is a well-established cultural and fashion-related practice from ancient times. Most people do not realize the common complications involved, such as keloid formation, infection, tissue loss from trauma, and tearing of the earlobe, most commonly from repeated stress of wearing heavy earrings. Newer trends such as “spacers”, can leave a large deficit in the earlobe, should someone choose to remove or discontinue their use. Torn earlobes are also referred to as cleft or split earlobes. Repair of a torn earlobe is a common procedure encountered in facial plastic surgery and can easily be accomplished by Dr. Friedman. How the service is done: Earlobe reconstruction can repair or reconstruct the earlobe and restore it to a more appealing form and functionality. The degree of the earlobe tear or deficit from a spacer or large gauge ear jewelry helps to determine the type of repair needed. Dissolvable stitches are typically used, and due to their color and small size, they are well-camouflaged. Because the procedure is done using local anesthesia, just about anyone who needs an earlobe repair is a candidate. What methods are used: Torn or elongated earlobes can be repaired with a simple procedure to not only fix the earlobe, but also to strengthen it. This surgery is called a cross-over earlobe repair and is the most complete way to repair a fully torn earlobe. Only local anesthesia is required. It typically takes less than one hour to complete in the office. When a large deficit is created from gauge piercings or spacers, a more complex technique, referred to as a “star-plasty” is required. Follow-up treatments or next steps: There is minimal discomfort after earlobe repair and if necessary, Tylenol is effective for any mild discomfort. Patients can return to work immediately following the procedure. In most cases, dissolvable sutures are placed, so no suture removal is necessary. In addition, no time off work is necessary when undergoing earlobe reconstruction as the healing process is fast and uncomplicated. • Facial Implants

  Facial implants are a form of cosmetic surgery used to improve a person’s facial contours or provide a more harmonious balance to their face and features. Facial implants also restore shape to a face after trauma or major disease. Implants may be made of human tissue, such as bone or fat cells, or synthetic materials such as silicone or polythene. Some people choose to have cheek implants to enhance the appearance of their face and boost their confidence. Cheek implants can make the cheeks look larger, higher, or fuller. With both cheek and chin implants, the purpose is to provide facial proportion and an overall enhancement of the face. Cheek Implants Cheek implant surgery usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes. If you are just having implants, the steps generally include: An incision (cut) is made either inside your upper lip or through your lower eyelid. A pocket is formed and the implant is inserted. The implant is held in place by the cheek muscles, stitches or metal screws. Stitches are used to close the incisions inside your mouth – these usually dissolve within about 10 days. When cheek implants are being placed as part of another cosmetic operation (such as a facelift, forehead lift or eyelid surgery), the implants may be inserted through the incisions made for those procedures. Chin Implants In this procedure, the surgeon will use an implant to add volume and structure to your chin. This is achieved through an incision made either under the chin or inside the lower lip where a pocket is made and the implant inserted. • Liposuction

  Love it or hate it, our bodies are equipped to manufacture and store fat, often in the most unfortunate places. Fat deposits occur all over the body with some areas accumulating more fat than others. In women, these are the arms, hips and abdomen, thighs and buttocks. In men, its primarily the midriff and the arms and upper torso. When this happens, getting this fat to redistribute properly can be a problem, even with exercise and diets. When all else fails, liposuction may be the answer. How the service is done: Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty (“fat modeling”), liposculpture suction lipectomy (“suction-assisted fat removal”), or simply lipo is a plastic surgery procedure that involves the removal of fat from any area of the body to sculpt it to a certain form and appearance. Lipo is a popular procedure for candidates who have tried all other means to get rid of their fat without success. Although this procedure can be successful, it’s important to note that it is not a substitute for eating a healthy diet and working out regularly. What methods are used: Liposuction can take place under either a local or general anesthetic. The length of the treatment will depend on the technique chosen and the amount of fat to be removed. The exact operation will depend on the specific liposuction technique used but, in general, the steps include: A tiny incision (cut) is made and a sterile liquid solution is given (infused) directly into the vein to reduce bleeding and trauma. A cannula (thin, hollow tube) is inserted. The cannula is pushed and pulled through the fat layer using a controlled back and forth motion to break up the fat cells. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum pump or large syringe attached to the cannula. The person continues to be given intravenous fluids (directly into the vein) during and immediately after surgery to replace the fluids lost when the fat is removed. Depending on the number of areas receiving treatment, the procedure can take up to two hours. Follow-up treatments or next steps: Immediately following your liposuction, Dr. Friedman will place you into a surgical garment which is worn for a short period of time to aid in maintaining your desired shape. This garment is designed to ensure proper healing of the skin and tissue. As you heal, your resulting appearance will continue to improve, leaving a more natural, slim body contour. • Three Dimensional Facelift with Fat Transfer

  As we age, the skin in our face begins to lose its elasticity and starts to sag, which can be difficult for some to deal with. In order to restore natural, youthful appearances, it’s important to restore the skin in a three-dimensional way using a facelift with fat transfer. While a traditional facelift lifts and tightens, it is two dimensional and does not address the facial volume loss that accompanies the aging process. A 3-Dimensional face lift addresses facial atrophy, restoring volume back to the face with the use of your body’s natural fat cells. By utilizing fat from another part of your body, it can be artistically grafted back into your face to restore your natural, youthful look. What methods are used: After intravenous sedative medications are administered, local anesthesia is injected. Small incisions are made strategically around the ear and facial creases so they will not be noticed once healed. • Rhinoplasty

  Many feel self-conscious about their nose, thinking that it distracts others from seeing the natural beauty of their eyes, hair, or other facial features. Rhinoplasty, also known as nose reshaping or a nose job, enhances facial harmony and the proportions of your nose. The procedure can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose. How the service is done: Nose reshaping is performed for both cosmetic as well as functional concerns. Rhinoplasty can be performed via various approaches. The majority, if not the entirety, of the incisions are placed inside the nose to hide them. This is removed within 7 days of surgery. You will be asked to sleep on your back for a few weeks to avoid injuring the nose. Bruising around the eyes may occur in cases when the nose must be straightened and generally disappears within 2 weeks. No sutures will need to be removed as they all dissolve on their own. • Male Gynecomastia Reductions

  “Man boobs”, a harsh term labeled to men suffering from a feminine appearing chest. Each day can start with an unwanted look at his chest in the mirror, creating a destructive effect on ego and self-esteem. Because of this, men have learned to pick their clothing carefully so that they are able to conceal their chests as best they can. When this happens, those affected by the condition tend to suffer both physically and psychologically owing to the deformity. Feelings of shame, embarrassment, guilt, and inadequacy torment men with gynecomastia. The best answer to this condition is a male gynecomastia reduction procedure. How the service is done: The reduction procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured. In the most extreme of cases, excess skin from around the areola and from the sides of the breast are excised. Are there any side-effects: When male breast-reduction surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there are risks. These include infection, bruising and bleeding. The procedure may also result in noticeable incisional scars, pigment changes in the surgical area, or asymmetry. If asymmetry is significant, a second procedure may be performed to remove additional tissue. The temporary effects of breast reduction include loss of breast sensation or numbness, which may last up to a year. Follow-up treatments or next steps: Whether you’ve had excision with a scalpel or liposuction, you will feel some discomfort for a few days after surgery. However, discomfort can be controlled with medication. • Minimally Invasive Short Facelift

  As cosmetic surgery has gone mainstream, more patients are becoming concerned with the level of invasiveness that different procedures signify. For facial procedures especially, the need for methods and techniques that will leave very little scarring cannot be over emphasized. This has given rise to better and more efficient methods of performing facial cosmetic surgery. The minimally invasive short facelift, also known as the short incision minimally invasive facelift, is one such procedure. The procedure is performed to rejuvenate the brow, cheeks, and other facial features. The outcome is a more youthful look with well-proportioned and positioned features. How the service is done: During the procedure, the incision made is smaller than in traditional facelift techniques. The incision starts in the temporal hairline, where hair grows through the small scar, hiding it from view. The incision continues hidden in the crease in front of the ear ending at the earlobe so that there is no scar behind the ear. Once the incision is made, undermining of the skin is performed, and the deeper layers of the face are “lifted” with a suture suspension technique. Elevation of the head is extremely helpful in reducing the initial post-operative swelling. Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke should be avoided to prevent delays in the healing process. • Labiaplasty

  Labiaplasty is a cosmetic genital surgical procedure that will reduce the size or change the shape of the small lips on the outside of the vagina (the labia minora). Many women are born with large or irregular labia. Others develop this condition after childbirth or with aging. The appearance of the enlarged labia can cause embarrassment with a sexual partner or loss of self-esteem. Additionally, those with overly sensitive labia minora often experience discomfort throughout their everyday lives, but especially with physical activities. When this happens, those suffering from this condition may benefit from a labiaplasty procedure. How the service is done: Labiaplasty, also known as labioplasty, labia minora reduction or labial reduction, is a plastic surgery procedure undertaken to alter the labia minora (inner labia) and the labia majora (outer labia), and the folds of skin surrounding the human vulva for aesthetic or functional reasons. Labiaplasty surgery can be successfully performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation. The length of surgery depends on the extent of redundant labial tissue, but anticipate no more than two hours. Generally, the procedure can be carried out in a number of ways: Amputation technique: Also referred to as the trim method, it is the simplest of the labia reduction surgeries. However, there are some disadvantages to this method such as the straight line scar that if left on the border of the labia, may be a more painful scar. Wedge technique: This involves simply taking a wedge, or V shaped excision, from the center of the excess labia into natural creases of the labial folds. This is better than the trim technique because it preserves the natural transition at the border of the labia. Modified wedge technique: A modification of the wedge technique, this takes a wedge from the inner labia skin to a downward facing wedge on the outer labia. This means the outer scar does not go horizontally across the labia. Instead, it lays in the crease between the outer and inner labia, in a vertical orientation. Once this scar heals, it is difficult to find it. Follow-up treatments or next steps: Most patients report a mild, uneventful recovery. You will have discomfort at the surgical site for the first few days which will then decrease. Dr. Friedman and his staff will ensure that you are sent home with prescriptions for pain medication and antibiotics. Full healing takes approximately six weeks. All sutures used are absorbable and therefore do not need to be removed.
